It has been recommended by others on the forum not to install the drivers manually through the device manager. If not I suspect Windows has loaded a generic usb hub driver for your other 3.0 controller. In your first picture you only have one, did you disable a controller in the bios by chance? I have 2 ASMedia XHCI Controllers under device manager. Why last have yellow sign when update Asmedia controller.

I update from Device Manager and look before. I can understand being a bit weary of these drivers as they are hosted by a 3rd party and the driver installer is actually packaged from a different motherboard vendor however they are designed for the same USB controller that is on the EVGA X79 motherboards.

The only software I really on the motherboard manufacturer for is bios updates.

Same goes for for the graphics cards, I buy from EVGA, I go to nVidia for the drivers. I have never relied on the motherboard manufacturer for drivers of the various components on a motherboard, the components are made by other companies, I try to get the drivers from manufacturer of the components.

I saw newer Intel USB 3.0 eXtensibile Host Controller than on EVGA Z77 FTW Download Center but I'm not sure is it good to install always newer before EVGA approved. I think we need topic if some new driver show up when someone notice to tell.
